Wednesday Feature
#1
One thing I like about harness racing is familiarity.  Often, the same horses run against each other in the same races.  That is good for bettors.

Tonight is Ladies Night at Buffalo Raceway.  The Wednesday feature is usually a $10,000 Open Pace for fillies and mares and tonight, a mild upset as Who Says That edged out hard charging Wanna Rock N Roll.  Wanna Rock N Roll had won four of the five features she had raced in, but she drew post position 7 and was moved to the 6 after Kaitlyn Rae scratched.  That is often a tough position to overcome as Who Says That prevailed in 1:58.4.  Splits were 29, 58.2 and 1:28.4 under snowy conditions at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

Buffalo Raceway races Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with posts time of 5, 5, and 6 respectively.

And, while we're at it, Saratoga Casino Hotel opens its 2017 season this Sunday, February 19 at 12:15 pm.

I enjoy watching the same horses race at the same track throughout the year. Then when the big races come in to town, it's always cool to see one of the local horses get into those big races. Usually they lose but it's really cool to see how they stack up with the bigtime horses coming through.

Agreed. These are the most fun races to watch. You usually find those couple of horses that battle each other week-to-week. Post position, conditions, and drivers may change, which can have a big affect on who wins the race this week.

And....last night Paltrow Blue Chip scored at 50-1, paying $105!    Buffalo Raceway.

I am trying to watch more of Northfield Park, but they have to be the worst track at getting races started.  It says 0 MTP and 10 minutes later, the horses are still prancing around waiting for the start.  Why and what gives?

Being a New York resident, I follow Yonkers, Buffalo and this Sunday, I'll head out to opening day at Saratoga......Monticello I will keep tabs on as well and of course, Meadowlands.

Agreed. Back before simulcasting, Northfield Park had a slogan "Every 19 minutes, the place goes crazy." They were on time and kept the races moving. Only when special circumstances arose did they miss one of these time frames. Now, they almost never get a race off when they are supposed to. I've actually missed a bet because they were only 3-4 minutes late one time. THAT meant they were earlier than normal.

They need to set the times and go off of them punctually.

Fillies and Mares are fun to watch but I like to see the those fun races with one of the Ladies going up against the big boys.
